Better Weather Day

Hired a car for a few days and luckily we have had an improvement in the weather. Went on a rather disappointing forest trail walk, it was steep and slippery and although you couldn't see the road could hear the heavy traffic all the way along. We gave up on it and decided that they would be better keeping everyone out and creating a people free zone for the Kauris. The tropical gardens in the quarry were much better, very peaceful and nicely laid out. Would like to see them again in the summer. We also went to the AH Reed Park and went on the aerial walk, very impressive. The caves also had a nice approach walk but a warning at the beginning said to wear helmet and head torch, be vigilant as the caves could flood suddenly and were often waist deep in water. As we had heavy rain last night it seemed a good idea to lave caves for another time, especially as we did not have helmets! Finished day by doing some of our pre departure shop.
