Went to village in the landing craft so was a lot drier and more comfortable (although the term is only relative) First job was to unload a vast number of plywood sheets. The landing craft could not get into shore because of coral so the ply had to be transferred to the longboat and brought ashore in 3 separate loads We then formed a chain gang to move it up the beach where it was balanced on a trailer behind a quad bike to be moved the ½ mile to the village. When that task was completed the quad bike returned to the beach to be loaded on to the longboat with the trailer and transferred to the landing craft so that it could be taken back to the mainland.
Had a busier more productive day, painted about 20 flats for the outside of the school and started on the internal ones. Paint is running short so we are having to dilute it even more. It is quite hard work as the sheets have to be moved and restacked after finishing and probably do not dry properly before next one is placed on top. We could do a lot more as with the people from the village helping there are many hands but not enough rollers or brushes. Returned to boat, looking like a Dalmatian, exhausted and slept well
