I woke up this morning with a feeling akin to that of the excitement one experiences on Christmas Eve when one is 5 yrs old. Yet I am 30 and all we did was purchase 2 brand new Antal winches at an awesome discount*. The moment was full of tingly sparkles. I can already imagine them on the mast bravely pulling up our spinnaker halyard...
*60% off! They were ordered by someone else who imagined them bigger and self-tailing, since then they have been shunted around from Port Elizabeth to Capetown and have had some mileage. Although they are none the worse for wear. Only hitch is we didn't get the pretty box they came in.

Well... we started a family and now the normal thing would be to buy a house. But the problem with a house is that you can't travel with it and you rarely have adventures with it.
So the plan is : build dream boat: EVA (dream boat definition: Aluminium, tough, low maintenance meaning minimum [...]
paintwork and simple systems (we seriously considering not having a fridge) lifting keel so go anywhere: think estuaries, rivers, the amazon! high tidal zones, ability to beach, comfortable enough for 5 and 2 occasional guests) We live and sail and travel the world until the kids scream enough (probably when they'll be teens so 10 yrs to go) then find pleasant area to settle and when kids go to college off we sail again as a 'free' couple to who knows where.
That's the plan so far anyhow.
