Plating in place

All the plating is in place. She looks great! Better than great! This last visit was the most exciting yet... This is real! After years and years of dreaming this is finally happening. Slowly...

Mascoat anyone?

Almost all the plating on. On our side, we're primarily building the workshop and figuring out where the cradle will sit in the backyard. Next thing to figure out is insulation. We are looking at Mascoat. The stuff seems to good to be true: non-toxic, water-based, easy 1 part application, 2mm thickness for polar regions (!), flexible, lifetime warranty... Does anyone have any experience with this type of insulation? Hard to not feel like a guinea pig. We know the poly-urethane foam works. Now does this Mascoat really work as well as 3 inches of foam??? The other problem is getting the stuff here to SA... I hate to think of the import tax.

Hi Jules , i am the national sales rep for Australia and New Zealand and can assure you the products do work . I have a large client base which covers all industries and have a long list of success stories . most of our aluminium vessel type applications also use the Delta Ddb for sound damping purposes then apply the DTM for Insulation purposes. the application usually consists of around 1.mm of Ddb and 1.5 to 2.0mm of the DTM .

The builder's holiday is (finally) over, and we're happily back at work. The plating is moving along and we're working on the whole keel winch setup. Our shipwright is in town and the planning of the workshop and cradle at the house has started. Over the past month, we've received our shipment of hatches and portlights, & our Ramsey keel winch (what a monster...45kg!). Greatest Christmas presents ever (except for that one time I got a sailing dinghy!)
