Boom!

We've got a boom! Yes!!!

Our Mast
03/05/2011

The folks at Southern Spars have done a fantastic job with our rig. Its not 100% complete but exceeds our expectations by a mile.

Our first white picket keel cradle.

Our keel cradle, its our first oversized garden ornament. Will soon be used properly, but for now its a decent jungle gym for the kids.

This picture was taken mid-November, hot work looked almost done then. Now it really looks done. We into the details now. Will post pictures soon to show these bogging-down-but-oh-so-important details. They will start the goal post soon, so she'll look like her finished profile which is exciting. We nearly there!

Cockpit is comfy
09/14/2010

Cockpit is looking good, surpasses our expectations and is way more comfortable than we thought it would be. Might need extra coffee on watch... might be too comfy!

08/26/2010

Sorry about the (large) gap in our blogging. We've been busy on the project and haven't had much time to sit in front of the computer...
SO, to recap the past months: Eva has been flipped, the pilothouse, tanks, cockpit are nearly done; ditto with the keel and the rudder. We have had delays (no surprise there) she is a complex boat, so maybe another month or two to finish off the details. It seems like there is a never ending list of stuff to do before she gets moved to our yard, but then I look back at the first pictures of the construction and I feel a little better... we have come a long way from a tall stack of aluminum plates. On the home front we have built the concrete foundation that she will sit on, we dug a deep rectangular hole and filled it with tons of concrete. It's not the prettiest of garden ornaments!

Hi Claude, Julie, Noah, & Lilo, I am in the progress of building a alluminium boat for myself- will be in Johannesburg and Capetown the next week. Is there any change to visit your beautiful project EVA? Kind regards Philipp
