Humans always leave a mark. Here's a shot of cairns on the north side of Crescent Beach on Block Island, Rhode Island.
After a couple of absolutely stunning fall days (temps between 13 and 17 degrees, 55 to 63 F) it's been overcast with strong winds and rain the past couple of days. Enjoyed listening to the fog horns as I drank an early cup of coffee Tuesday morning.
Weather has been the dominant feature of the past two weeks. Spent a week in Bermuda monitoring and prepping for Hurricane Karl. The wave, then 97L, that was finally named Matthew passed Grenada with lots of rain and just a bit of wind in squalls. As far as I know, Evening Ebb is safely on her mooring. There are heavy winds and rain in DC today and Matthew may still impact the weather in the Mid-Atlantic.
It was great to see a post from Dana on s/v Journey detailing her experiences in Tanna. And on Facebook this morning Marce and Jack from s/v Escape Velocity shared their experiences at the volcano on Tanna in Vanuatu. Tanna was definitely one of the most interesting places I visited in the Pacific.
Here's a Block Island sunset.
There was a sailboat high and dry on Crescent Beach in Block Island Sunday morning. The story on the street was that the couple was heading for Florida from Maine and picked up seaweed on their prop disabling the engine. They tried to anchor, but weren't able to set it and were driven to shore hitting every rock but not holing the boat. It was on the beach for two days but they eventually kedged it off the beach and sailed away.
And finally a rainbow over the cruise ships berthed at the Royal Dockyards in Bermuda a day ahead of Tropical Storm Karl.
