Everything but Monkeys

We left Kroko atoll early (around 6 am) but not as early as our nieghbours who we saw ahead as we left the anchorage. We enjoyed an uneventful sail and arrived at our destination, TG Godong, mid afternoon.
Coming into the anchorage we were met with very gusty winds that I think were coming down off the surrounding hills (catabolic winds). We anchored in about 40 feet of water near the shore and let the boat settle with the gusts. The water clarity was amazing as we could easily see the bottom at 50 feet. We hadn’t seen that level of clarity or indigo blue water since Nuie in the South Pacific. Even though it was windy when we arrived, we were tucked in around a point of land and so the anchorage was flat with no swell. The hills rose steeply on all sides giving the sense of a very protected anchorage.
When the wind finally settled later in the afternoon, we had perfect conditions that we eventually shared with three other boats. Our only disappointment was the fact that the cruising guide “promised” monkeys would come and play on the beach at sunset and they didn’t arrived. I guess they had another engagement.
When we pulled anchor in the morning the bay even gave us a parting gift!
