Gili Banta

After three days of socializing at Labuan Bajo it was time to move on. Having just come off a exhausting day of Komodo Dragon tracking, we decided to make our first day a short distance and picked a small inlet on the South side of Gili Banta, a distance of about 20 miles. Although the approach looked somewhat daunting and the entrance narrow, with a combination of charts, Google earth images and a watch on the bow we arrived without incident. We anchored in sand, easily seen at 30 feet deep, between two reefs. Steep cliffs surrounded us on three sides. The only sounds were of local birds and the occasional fish jumping. We had the bay to ourselves. Time for a short snorkel, a relaxed dinner, and a good nights sleep. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
