We’ve been determined to eat as many of our date sensitive provisions as possible before packing up the boat away for the summer – and have gotten quite creative in the kitchen, pulling together culinary miracles from a can of SPAM. Needless to say, by the time we reached Los Muertos we were eager to treat ourselves to a night out at the beachside restaurant (El Cardon Tequila Bar and Grill).
After 9 days of wining and dining on the boat (another day or two of eating on the boat would have turned into ‘whining’ and dining!), we had a great time in the open air restaurant sipping Mexican wine, eating chili rellenos and fresh caught fish. The yellow hue of the late afternoon sun reflected off the waves, and we watched local fishermen bring in their day’s catches from their pangas. Kids and dogs played in the waves, and a couple of young divers strutted past us carrying big fish caught with only a snorkel, mask, fins and a speargun. Impressive!!
