Agua Verde
18 May 2012 | Agua Verde
We arrived in the bay of Agua Verde about one o'clock yesterday afternoon after a five hour trip from Candeleros Bay. Unfortunately we had 10-15 knots of wind on the nose and a tide against us so we motored the whole way. We had spent two days anchored in Candeleros, where just up the beach from the anchorage is a new resort (opened last year) with multiple pools and a great restaurant. With weather in the 35+ range, the pool was a welcome relief. The resort is very generous and allows cruisers to use all the facilities without charge. In return we support the bar and restaurant. On the 16th we celebrated Kim's birthday with a great meal at the restaurant complete with a flan with a birthday candle and the traditional singing of Happy Birthday. She again celebrated her 29th birthday! Since arriving here we have completed a couple of boat projects. First we scraped the shells off the waterline of the boat. They tend to grow almost overnight (well, over 3 weeks anyway). Then we hooked up the snuba gear ( a gas powered compressor for diving) and Tom replaced the zinc on the propeller. Zincs are used to prevent corrosion but need to be replaced every couple of months. We had a lazy time last night, reading, watching a movie and eating popcorn. This morning we plan to head out for a hike of the area and maybe get some snorkeling in off one of the points of the bay this afternoon. You will notice there are no pictures this time as we are posting this blog using our SSB radio and pictures are not allowed on sailmail (as they take too much time to download)..
