Shake It Up and Shake It Out
19 February 2013
Last week we took a hiatus from the daily grind of boat projects to 'shake it up' with our friends from Victoria and joined in on a fun Rally in Banderas Bay to 'shake out our sails' after being docked at the Marina for a while.
Together with Deb and Dave we dined on fresh seafood, shared a few margaritas and cervezas, and the guys went body surfing (until they were shooed out of the water by a cautious life guard... somehow the life guard failed to appreciate their skill and strength... go figure!). Unfortunately the holiday fun ended abruptly when a bout of stomach flu did its rounds, spoiling our plans for a two day sailing adventure. The next few days were spent lazing around at the resort. (At least Deb and Dave were well rested by the time they headed back home!) We hope they'll join us on a tropical sailing vacation sometime again soon so we can pick up where we left off!
Once Deb and Dave headed off to the airport we untied our lines to join in on the fun of the 'Shake It Out' Rally. It was a perfect afternoon - warm, sunny, and 12 knots of wind, which allowed us to carve through the waves at 7 knots on a broad reach. The only thing that could have been better would be to share the experience with Deb and Dave.
We waved bon voyage to them from our cockpit mid-race as we watched their jet fly across the bay!
