The Countdown is On!
13 April 2013 | 450 miles to Hiva Oa
Kim & Tom
Kim's night watch shift last night was perfectly uneventful. No squalls, minimal sails up to handle the strong tradewinds comfortably, and beautiful star-filled sky. She was even able to read a few chapters in her book (gotta love those headlamps!). Tom wasn't so lucky on his shift... he got doused twice by squalls, and saw winds of up to 27 knots. Just enough to knock out the wind generator Nasty! But today is another day, and you never know what you're going to get. So far we've had a great sail under sunny skies peppered with white fluffy clouds that look like caricatures of animals as they float by. We even had a pod of dolphins entertain us for a while. If the winds continue (17 - 20) and we can maintain our current course and speed (7-8 knots over the ground)!, we could arrive at Hiva Oa in the Marqueses in 3 - 4 days... the countdown is on!!!
