Trial Run
14 April 2015 | Waipo Bay
We've been without cell/internet coverage for days. Our online social life has ground to a halt and our information about current events has contracted to what's happening in our immediate surroundings... gasp... we have no idea what's happening with William and Kate! Yep, we're effectively 'off the grid', relying on our SSB radio as our primary means of communication. It's been peaceful, but a big departure from what we're used to. The silver lining is that it has provided us with a good opportunity to give our offshore system a trial run before heading back to the tropics. And the system has already proven itself valuable by providing us with reliable weather forecasts. It has allowed us to select a few excellent anchorages to tuck into for protection from shifting weather patterns. The roar of "40 knot gutst" and "very rough seas" outside Waipo Bay over the past couple of days have been tamed to a whisper. Life onboard is good! Predictions for tomorrow are for light winds and calm seas which will make our short journey back to civilization in Opua a breeze!
