Bat Cove
26 June 2015
Tom begged me to stop after counting over 100 bats flying overhead at sunset. They made for great entertainment as we sipped on a sundowner in the cockpit watching the sun slipping over the horizon.
We weren't completely surprised to see them. Earlier this morning we hopped into the dinghy to explore the small cove just off our bow and discovered that the trees above were literally dripping with fruit bats the size of small cats. They screeched loudly at us for disturbing their sleep and their shrieks were so loud they echoed off the rock faces around us. We paddled around quietly to avoid disturbing them further, imagining how perfect this setting would be for a scary movie.
