The home stretch!

20 May 2011 | Beaufort, NC
Joannie
We left Charleston Thursday morning @ 1000 and motor-sailed offshore for 30 hours, arriving safely in Beaufort, NC this afternoon. The passage was "uneventful" except for some lively dolphins swimming around the boat and entertaining us with their water acrobats! We also saw a group of rays travelling together just under ths surface, but they weren't travelling very fast so they fell behind us before we could get a picture.
The breeze was enough during the day yesterday to warrant putting up the jenniker but by sunset, we doused it and continued under power only.
We'll spend one night here and continue on the ICW in the morning. Generally it takes 20 hours to get home from here and we do it in 2 long days. So, barring the unexpected, we should be home by sunset Sunday.
Can't believe it!
