"The Devil made me do it!" That would be me, Heather, the Devil that is. I'd lived in NYC a good long time but I have never been to Staten Island (the ferry, yes, the island ,no). So when Ken said what is the first thing you want to do when we go ashore I said - Buy real bagels!!! We took a mooring at the Richmond Community Yacht Club - great lunch and a very safe anchorage. Then we took the MTA and the ferry into the City (for a grand total of $9.00) . We checked out the construction progress of the "new Towers" - very pretty, reflects the sky with little or no structure showing between the glazing.

Upon our return to Great Kills we ate really good pizza and the best homemade ice dream we've ever had at 'Benvenuti's'. We bought an assortment of jaw challenging wonderfully flavorful bagels around the corner and to die for Italian pastry at 'Ponte Vecchio' on the corner of the intersection that leads back to the marina...........GREAT DAY!!! I recommend Great Kills to anyone wishing to visit NYC without breaking the bank - Staten Island is the way to go!!

Up at 7AM, Ken at least, to sail to Barnegat Bay on our way to Cape May. What a lovely anchorage, much nicer than a long overnight to Cape May. Getting there however was a might rough in the morning - wind against the tide - the dogs and I were a tad nervous. The interior of the saloon was rearranged by nature (still haven't found my #9 pencil). But Ken was enjoying a little action at sea. Tomorrow another 65 nm and we'll be in Cape May - a tight squeeze for two cats and a monohull!
