Finally a fish dinner
10 June 2013
With a reasonable weather window we left St Lucia at 0200 hours on our way to Bequia. The wind was rather brisk so 2 reefs were put into the main sail and some of the gib rolled away. This gave us a pleasant sail down the island but things got a bit bumpy once we were in open water as the swell was up to 2 meters. Things calmed down a bit once we were in the lee of St Vincent eventually we had to put the engine on for a while but once free of the wind shadow it was a rather fast a furious trip across to Bequia, we did not fish on this trip as it was a bit too rough.
A weeks rest in Bequia and we were ready to continue our trip south, first off we had a trip round to friendship bayon the south coast of Bequia but it was far too roly there and the forecast was not good enough for us to carry on to Mustique for a day or two so we choose to go to Canouan. It was a lovely sail between the island making around 6 knots so Andy threw out the fishing line and as we approached the island we caught this lovely fish, a small barracuda which was delicious. Our first and only fish so far this season. An overnight stay in the anchorage at Canouan and we headed down to Union island to Clifton to book out of the Grenadines. Our next stop was Hillsborough on Carriacou to book in with Grenada, we only stopped here for a night and headed off at 0530 hours down to Grenada. A brilliant sail all the way down with enough wind and tide to drift along at 7 knots, the last hour or so was a bit bumpy as we rounded the south coast and motored up into Clarkes Court bay. We will be here for the rest of the month as we have a few things to look into at the chandlery and a visit to the dentist.
