Love the Exumas...

23 November 2013 | Big Majors at Staniel Cay
Steve
The famous swimming pigs

We love the Exumas. We got to Normans from Nassau via a nice gentle sail. We had the anchor down by cocktail hour...which is really any time the Captain declares it to be. I think that's in Admiralty law somewhere. If not, it should be.

We were going to make our first hunt of the season the next day, but the weather said, "move on", and we did. We left for Staniel Cay and the Big Majors anchorage. We were anchor down by 3:30 and had a nice sail most of the way. So Fine Lion and Veranda celebrated with our first wallow on the beach. It was fantastic.

This is the place where the swimming pigs reside. Yes Elmer, the pigs really do swim. They do it for food...or what they think is food. It's home to the Staniel Cay Yacht Club. It's a rather famous bar and restaurant...sort of the hub of the middle Exumas and the place for lots of action.

Since we'll be here for a few days due to weather, we have some jobs to get done: change the oil, laundry, palm fronds for Kim, first hunt, go to the bar at SCYC, socialize, hook up with Night Hawk (Barry and Susan), and other things I can't think of right now.

More later...
