Kim was very happy at the "Celebratory Wallow"
The mail boat is a big deal in the out islands. It's their lifeline to the outside world: supplies, groceries, two-way shipments, propane, fuel, etc. When you are a cruiser in the outer most islands like this, the mail boat is a big deal for you too.
The Capt. C (the mail boat for these islands) was due in yesterday, but got in late last night. All four cruising boats were anticipating its arrival since we ordered groceries Monday night to be placed on the Capt. C. You never know for sure if what you ordered will be on the boat; nor do you know if the order was "interpreted" the way you intended. So, it can be sort of like opening presents at Christmas...sometimes happy, sometimes not so much.
We had a good day today. Kim ordered three bags of Fritos. She was prepared for three of the small individual sized bags. She was amazed that she got three medium sized bags. Very cool...even if it was $18.00. We got fresh veggies, potatoes, onions, flour, sour cream, green peppers, romaine lettuce, limes, eggs, and gasoline. That became a little more complex than the other items, but in the end, we got 10 gal. of gas.
I sent an empty propane tank back on the Capt. C to Nassua where it will get filled and then the Capt. C will bring it back on 12/29. Not bad service.
So there is happiness in the village tonight. It's amazing how "native" you become being down here in the way-out islands. Tonight we celebrate with grilling lobsters, a salad, and baked potatoes with sour cream. Pretty big deal!
This was part of the crowd at the great wallow!
And here you wonder what we do all day.
More later...
