In the beginning Kim was very happy...not so much at the end
Most of us went in to the Super Bowl Party at the Silvertail in town. They had a small Bahamian launch come out to pick us up in three runs. I should add that it was blowing 20+ and a bit on the choppy side, but it's a party...right.
So we take a "sporty" ride into the Government Dock and then jump into the back of a pick-up truck to get to the party. During the pre-game, most of us brought dips, chips, etc. Bahamian beers were $3 each, and we could even bring our own drinks. There were about 20 cruisers there, and by game time there were about 20, or more, locals. Then the game starts. As you all know, the Broncos sucked! Well, the crowd got loud...it was a ball. I was sitting with Cephas and Etienne, the Captain (s) of the mailboat, the Captain C. In fact, they own the boat. Of course, they were rooting for the Seahawks. Needless to say I was taking a lot of punishment.
During the game, Erica (Silvertail owner) served fried conch, lobster, and chicken. Did I mention beer? Well she also had Pinot Grigio wine. It was a loud and fantastic party. Clearly, one of the best Super Bowl Parties I've ever attended. Not so much for the game.
So the guys on the Captain C were heading back to Nassau after the game and said they'd take us back to the anchorage on the mailboat. So we all jumped into the backs of pick-ups and went to the mailboat. As is usual in the Bahamas, things don't always run on a tight schedule. The plan was to stop the mailboat out there and use the Bahamian launch (really a fishing boat) to take us to our boats. So while the Captain C was getting ready to leave a few of us jumped off the back into the launch and went on out after hanging around on the mailboat for a little while. It was a dark ride back, but lots of fun. They don't have a lot of regulations down here about lights, buoys, and markers so it was very dark. Everyone got home safe and full of food, beer, and fun.
While on the Captain C, we watched Cephas load his truck aboard to take to Nassau to get the alternator fixed. Just imagine if this was how you had to take your car to the garage, especially the night of a big Super Bowl Party...
