Day 9

29 October 2015 | Southport, NC
Cloudy & raining, SSW winds 15-20, ICW a little chop
We got up so late today, when the time changes this weekend we made a pack to get up a half hour before sunrise to get a decent start in the morning. This will also give us more time to explore the towns we stop at. So we will stop around 3P each day. We left Harbor Bridge Marina about 9:30. The weather was much less than optimal. It rained Aldabra and some times heavily. The wind continued from the SSE at 15-20. We where nice and comfortable behind our enclosure around the cockpit. We fought high current then had the current with us. It was difficult to find a Marina that had slips around Southport. We made it to Southport about 4:30P and stayed at the Deep Point Marina, which was about 1.5 mile hike into the town. laundry was free at the Marina so we took advantage of that. The Marina operator drove us into town and we looked around. A lot of shops where closes. We ate at Loco Joes, it was nice and the coconut cake was to kill for. We usually split the dearest so needless to say we fought over the last drapes of coconut cake. We decided since we broke our diet we would walk back to the Marina. Thank God for Google Maps. It was about a 2 mile hike and it did us good. We watched the GOP debates on CNBC. All the candidates where getting along this time. Well good night and see you tomorrow.
