Back in Key West
16 March 2017 | Stock Island Marina, Key West
Clear windy and cool
March 7 - March 16
Made it back to Key West after an extremely busy trip back to Ridge. It felt so good to be sleeping on the boat again. We flew into Ft Lauberdale and drove down to the Keys all the way out to Key West. Fist order of business was to replenish our food on the boat so we went to publics. We started up our exercise routines again and focused on reading the boat for our journey to Cuba at the end of the month. We caught up with our marina friends. Also. Cleaned all the bird poop off the boat. We wished Dorathy and Clayton a safe travels and good by as our marina neighbors headed Saturday we biked to Kmart and Home Depot then to downtown Key West, then it happened....... As the bike lane ended on Eaton Street Kathi decided to continue on via the sidewalk, she misjudged the curb and hit it and went flying over the handle bars. She landed on her chin, right elbow and left wrist. Needless to say it wasn't pretty. She was knocked out. The fire department and ambulance was summanded. In short Kathi had a concussion, broken elbow, sprained wrist and a nasty cut on her chin. Thank God she had her helmet on . She is on the mend and doing well. She will need surgery on her elbow which is planned for the 20th. Otherwise we continue to plan for the Cuba trip and the tours we plan to take when we get over there. We depart the evening of the 30th, it should be a 16 hour sail approx 94 nautical miles to Hemmingway Harbor, which is on the north west coast of Cuba. Finisterre is doing well with everything currently working and functional.
