The 8 hour trip here from Little Farmers Cay went very well. Of course the predicted 1 to 2 foot seas were more like 3 to 4 with some 5's but it was a following sea and a broad reach which put a little air in the sails. We added just a little Ruby, about 1800 rpms to get us speeding along at around 6.5 knots.
Pulled in Elizabeth Harbor which is huge and although there were around 400 boats in the whole area, it didn't really seem crowded. We anchored by Sandollar Beach a couple days then moved over to the Exuma Marina to get our supplies, fuel, water and sanity. I really HATE crossing long rough seas in Cry Baby (dingy). I have never liked small boats , not going to start now. Calm and slow or I stay on the boat.
We have been at the marina for 7 glorious days and still have some groceries to get in. The ocean is crazy with 12 foot swells so we will probably just anchor here and there for the rest of the week till we can head on over to Conception Island.
The weather has been so beautiful with a dry north wind and in the 70's; not what I would expect at all.
It is a busy place and lots of locals. I have never seen so many beautiful, well dressed and well behaved children. Manners and politeness are very important to the people here, although not a one of them has an alarm clock I am sure. Things are open when they are haha.....the island way.
Stew health update: It has been 15 days and all is well. We were going to have a test done here and sent to Nassau, but it is one of those that they can't "keep" to send; you have to actually go to Nassau. Hard to believe.
We think all is well at this point, but he did actually lose 20 pounds!!
Stew will be adding some updates of his own soon
laters!
