Belle June 2004-June 2013
Our beautiful little girl dog Belle whom we picked out of the litter at 6 weeks old managed to survive Parvo, months of displacement after Hurricane Ivan flooded our house, lived in a 25' camper (along with her mate Mic) during our bankruptcy days in numerous camp grounds, and finally lived on a sailboat for almost four years.......but not Cancer.
She loved the beach more than anything and the memories of her running, playing, digging in the sand, and just loving every minute of life will bring a smile, and a tear to us forever.
She started feeling bad after we got here in the DR and things just got worse. There is a wonderful man here known as Dr. Bob who has lived in Haiti and the DR for 35 years helping people and animals alike. He did everything possible for her and she is now buried (along with Mic's ashes) in the garden behind his office. It is a beautiful tropical garden and they are in the sunshine by the most beautiful pink flowering tree I have ever seen.
She died on the boat on June 29th; she loved Sarah and it was so great that she got to see her and had a few really good days before hand. We were truly devastated at her loss.
We are spending some time in a hotel in Cabarete with Patch (cat) off the boat as it has been a rough year it seems. The loss of my brother, my mother, my 6 week old nephew, Stew's terrible bout with the parasite illness, and now my best dog friend have left me a little wrung out.
All will be good. Just need some time. We are formulating a new plan to go to Jamaica, The Caymans, Cuba and back to Florida. Who knows.
