Day 3
26 March 2017 | Enroute to Galapagos
Bernie
The wind faded yesterday afternoon to the point that we started motoring when our boat speed touched 3 knots. But in the early hours of this morning we had 6 to 7 knots from a favourable direction so out came the sails. A few hours later we broke out the kite as the wind built. We have been barrelling along at 8 to 9 knots. The NZ yacht Shepeshifter that was within a mile of us overnight has long since faded in our wake. We have now 345nm to go and if we maintain this speed it will take 40 hours. The equator crossing is getting closer 250 nm away.
