Almost becalmed

It has been 24 hours since the wind shifted to the east and faded to less than 10 knots. As we are heading west this wind direction and speed is not much help to us. We tried various sail combinations and strategies to get the most miles out of the light wind, but the overriding factor was the remaining swell and chop and how this made the sails slat around violently. We had to drop the mainsail to stop it self destructing , but left the poled out genoa up. It is getting a workout, but is pushing us along at about 4 knots and on course,
We have 1675 nm to go, so a bit reluctant at this stage to use the engine to motor through this calm which is forecast for four days. We will just have to be patient.
On the positive side we were able to open the hatches and let some air through the boat. Up until now we have had to close all hatches due to spray, so inside the cabin was regularly in the high 30s and 80% humidity, today it was cool and breezy!
