Sailing again
23 June 2017 | Enroute from Fiji to Noumea
Bernie
We finally departed Vuda marina at 1200hrs after spending most of the morning waiting for the Customs and Immigration officials to turn up and clear us out. The send off from the staff was as good as the welcome! A group of them came to our dock and sang a farewell song...very emotional as we let go the mooring lines. We motored 15nm across the lagoon to the passage through the reef and exited into the ocean. It is now just daylight, or should I say first light, we have 15 knots of wind on the nose and we are close hauled heading slightly north of our rhumb line to Noumea over 600nm away.
It is a bit bouncy on this angle, but the wind is forecast to clock around to the east a bit more so it should improve. Joe is a bit delicate, but with the aid of seasickness tablets and a special wrist band is managing to hold it all together.
