Having sailed up from Wollongong on Sunday we reached the CYC on Sydney Harbour by late afternoon. The sail up was quiet, with variable breezes, so motor sailing was the order of the day. The coastline between W'llgong and Sydney is spectacular and as we passed Botany Bay were entertained by all the plane activity from Sydney airport. Entering the harbour from Sth Head was impressive and as usual it was very busy with boats of all shapes and sizes out enjoying the sunny afternoon. Once at CYC we ended up being given a berth right next to our friends on Freycinet 11 (Doug & Sandra). It was good to finally catch up with them over a meal Sunday evening to discuss our plans for heading out to New Cal/ Vanuatu. There are some serious looking yachts berthed at CYC and we seemed like small fry amongst the large racing machines with their very fancy paintwork!. After doing some laundry and grocery shopping in the morning we left Syd. early afternoon yesterday, and enjoyed a leisurely sail up to Pittwater. We have been here a few times before, so it all feels quite familiar. We were just laying the anchor in Lovett Bay, when a local (Tim) pulled up in his dinghy and asked if we were "Simon's Mum & Dad?". Apparently Simon has emailed some of his friends from here to let them know his mum & dad will be on their boat in Pittwater and to look out for them. We caught up again with Tim this morning who gave us the 'lowdown' on accessing shops and marine services etc. We planned on being here for just a few days, but the weather is not looking good for heading north, so we maybe here longer than expected. It's a very pretty part of the world and many anchorages to choose from, so not a bad place to be 'holed up' for awhile.
