Happy ending!!

We arrived in Bundaberg yesterday morning after one of the best days sailing we had for the trip. We were the second boat in the rally to arrive, but it wasn't a race. We ran out of wind the last 30 miles and had to motor sail the last bit, but it was the only motoring we'd done for the whole trip. We averaged 176 miles/day. Customs and quarantine formalities were finished mid afternoon so we were free to leave the boat and go exploring the Bundaberg marina complex. It is a wonderful facility with all the needs of a yachtie catered for. We enjoyed a few drinks and a meal at the marina restaurant to celebrate a successful passage.
The news on Simon was good. The French officials running the Transat race confirmed that his transponder that transmits his position and details had failed, but he was fine and still racing. We will just have to wait till he finishes to know his final position.
This is the last blog for awhile as the boat will remain in Bundaberg on the hard over summer. We plan to resume our travels early next year sailing north then around to Darwin and across to Indonesia. Hope you enjoyed reading our blog, we certainly enjoyed our travels and experiences.
Cheers Bernie & Dianne
PS.
26/10/09 Simon completed the Transat successfully placing 20th for the second leg.
