Fish for dinner

After leaving Morris Island we had a great sail to a bay with the unlikely name of Portland Roads. We sailed in company with two French couples on their catamarans and as we sailed the 60nm towards the anchorage, a further two yachts joined us, they were also part of the French contingent sailing north. We had actually had already met two of the French couples, as they were in Port Resolution on Tanna Island with us last year when we visited the volcano together-small world! So it was good to catch up again. On the way Bern hauled in a huge Spanish mackerel which put up quite a fight, resulting in a very messy cockpit! However it was great to have fresh fish for dinner with a few extra packs in the fridge for future meals. Today we sailed onto Cape Grenville and are planning our final trip around Cape York. Tides are a big issue so we have to time the tides right, to get 'round the top'. Fortunately there is another boat anchored along side us tonight. They have sailed around to Darwin quite a few times. So over sundowners tonight we were able to 'pick their brains' how best to round Cape York. We are really looking forward to getting to the other side, as it seems to have taken quite a few day sails to get to the top!
