Returning back to Langkawi

Leaving the crowded anchorage of Phi Phi Don island

We cleared customs and Immigration in Phuket and headed south towards Langkawi. The wind was very light - not worth putting sail up, so we motored to the island of Phi Phi Don for the night.
It was not a relaxed night because the bay was crowded with anchored tourist boats and just when we thought we were anchored in a good position clear of all other boats a big tourist ferry rafted up backwards alongside a nearby boat. The two boats rafted up together caused them to act differently to a single boat at anchor with the end result that at times they came very close to us. So it was a disturbed night worrying about colliding with the ferries. At about 6 AM I checked and found we were about to get our rigging snagged on the bow anchor of the big ferry. I had to carefully back away to clear it and at this point we had had enough and up anchored and headed off.
Later in the day after some sailing we arrived at the island of Ko Lanta and anchored on the east side near a village and out of the southerly swell. It was a good anchorage so we decided to stay another day and explore the island by motor scooter.
After one more overnight stop along the way we arrived back in our marina pen on Rebak island Langkawi. We spent a few days packing up the boat, then flew back to Australia.
