Croatia bound!

Roger & Di celebrating our arrival in Croatia!
Following an early start we depart Corfu and begin our 200nm trek towards Cavtat near Dubrovnik in the southern part of Croatia. We anticipate that it will takes us a day and a half to get there and are thankful to still have Roger on board to share the watches. Once again the winds are in the direction we want to go, so the whole trip is sails up, sails down. There is a good deal of fetch in the bottom part of the Adriatic, as there are not many impediments at all from its flow in the north to slow it down. The swells are large and sloppy and we all start feeling a little queasy, not up to eating much and only going down below to lie down! Overnight there is a lot of shipping so we are thankful for the AIS which at one stage shows us surrounded by at least 5 ships. Most of these are cruise ships which are large and very well lit. They travel overnight, so that by daylight their 3000 or so passengers are in a new destination! By the second day there is little wind to sail, so we just motor directly for Cavtat so we can arrive with some daylight. By late afternoon the seas have flattened, the motion of the boat is more settled, as are our stomachs, so we are all able to grab naps and enjoy our evening meal. We finally arrive in Cavtat around 9pm (about 7nm south of Dubrovnik) with enough light to anchor with, followed by hot showers and a glass(es) of bubbly to toast our arrival and celebrate a new country and a new Sea-the Adriatic.
