We are still in the visitors marina in Noumea and plan to be here for a few more days to do some sightseeing and complete some maintenance on the boat. We have caught up on sleep and taken life 'fairly easy' over the past few days. The weather is absolutely perfect, sunny but not too hot and low humidity. We went for a bike ride down along the coast yesterday and passed many marinas, which is not surprising considering the waterways here. Noumea is completely surrounded by a reef so the waters inside are relatively calm. The large cruise ships call into Noumea...we noticed an influx of people here yesterday especially at McDonalds when we were there using their free Wireless Internet. fancy sailing all the way to Noumea and dining on McDonalds!! We have found a fantastic Boulangerie just a short walk from the marina that sells great baguettes and fresh croissants. Their pastries look great as well...just working up an appetite for those! On Saturday night we enjoyed a progressive dinner with the two other boats we sailed with to Noumea. As you can imagine there was much debriefing about the crossing'' while we 'tucked into' local prawns, local cheeses, local tuna and dessert! There are some really interesting people on boats in the marina, from all over the world. A boat arrived here on Friiday from NZ en route to the Louisiades and Bali. Another big boat arrived from France en route to Aust. There are quite a few aussies here who are doing a similar trip to us...and enjoying the break from winter in Aust.
