Back to the cruising life

It is real nice to be back in the cruising mode. Yesterday, after doing a few boat chores in the morning, we took the dingy to check out the islands and then headed off to go snorkeling with randy and Lynne from High States. The water is not quite as clear as the Bahamas, but is a lot warmer. The water clarity is effected by the run off from rains in the nearby mountains. We are in the eastern most islands of the San Blas and supposedly we are supposedly less effected by the daily rains that build up over the mainland during the day. And so far that appears to be true. You can see the clouds forming in the late afternoon and they look menacing, and you can see it raining to the west, but we get very little here.

The snorkeling was pretty good and the coral was nice and healthy in some spots. Not a lot of fish. Randy did spot a lobster, but it was pretty small - especially when compared to what we saw in Cuba. The Kunas bring lobster by to sell, but there are very small, so we will not buy they and encourage the harvest of undersized lobster. We did not go and check out Lisa's mola's yesterday, but maybe today we will go and check it out. I am dying to go on to the islands and see how these people live close up. They do not like their pictures taken and often will charge a dollar for the privilege, but it is fascinating to see how these people live. What little we have seen so far is stunningly beautiful.
