Many outings in Cartagena

We have had a busy last couple of days. Yesterday we caught a cab to a place so Karen could go see a Chiropractor. Club Nautico gives you a guide that has everything a person could need, listed in there based on recommendations from other cruisers. It makes life a lot easier to do all of the things that cruisers do here. People get all kinds of boat work done as well as health care is substantially cheaper here than North America. I went into the room with Karen and the doctor, as my Spanish is a little bit better than Karen's. I had never been to one before, but Karen said it was pretty normal. The visit cost around $18.00 and for some reason, we moved right to the front of the line. We then decided to go over to Centro and see if we could find some cheap rum, find a post office and to just look around. We found a place where we could by anjo rum for 16,000 peso's, so we bought one bottle to try before we buy more. Not super cheap, but less than half the price of back home ..... We also found a post office after asking for direction 8 times so we mailed our first post card back to my sister in Canada. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get there. Mark down Nov 17 on your calendar Laura! We ate lunch at a little place by the sidewalk - 3 tables - and had the "comida corrienta". Its a fixed meal for a very reasonable price. We had soup, then chicken, rice and a salad and a glass of pineapple juice all for $10,000 pesos - about $5.50. The amount of food sold through street vendors is unbelievable we still can't get over it.
The newly covered cushions came back the other day and look great. We are expecting the Bimini today, but I guess it will be tomorrow. We also ordered a bracket today so our helms chair can have a back. It will be custom made out of stainless steel and I will have to get the cushion part made, but it should be sweet....
