Getting ready to move on..

23 November 2010 | Cartagena, Columbia
Ralph
We have been having a blast going out and exploring more of Cartagena. On Saturday we headed over to San Felipe Fortress. It is this HUGE fort that was built in the 1600's to protect the city from pirates and attacks from other countries. We took the audio tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. From there we walked into Centro and tried cover some of the areas that we have not yet seen. We ended up going back into the city that evening with Salange 4 - a boat from Edmonton. They have been here for a lot longer than we have so they showed us some of their favorite places to eat and drink. It was our latest night out - I think we got back to the boat at around midnight. On Sunday we headed back into Centro and again tried to hit some places that we have not seen. We always find something new that we have not seen. But it was really hot so by noon we headed over to Caribe Plaze which is a mall that has air conditioning and took in a movie. Yesterday we did boat chores during the day and then headed back into the city for dinner. We had a fantastic time and a great meal. We tried to find this restaurant list in the guide book, but could not locate it, so we wondered around until we found a place that tempted us. Which they did with free wine. It was the best meal we have had here in Cartagena and the bill came to $63,000 pesos which is about $35.

Our projects are wrapping up - we are waiting for a stainless steel bracket for the helm chair so we can put a back rest on. It is supposed to be done this afternoon. We really like our new bimini and the new seat cushion covers. Ranzon did a great job and even made up a chair back included in the original price. He is a very nice man - he brought us a small gift made out of conch shells.

We are planning on leaving for the Bay of Cholon tomorrow, which is about 20 miles south of here and from there will get set to cross back over to Panama. There is a boat there that we met in Providencia and would like to see again. They are also having a big thanksgiving meal on Thursday, which should be fun. So after today, we probably will not have internet access for awhile...
