Rainy days

We have not moved. It has been raining quite a bit over the last few days. It rained for many hours last night and this morning and it has started again. Its a light rain, so not a big problem, but it means we tend to stay on the boat. We have been busy working on boat chores - mostly maintenance items like wiping the walls, defrosting the fridge, washing the decks, changing filters, running the watermaker, etc, etc. At least with the rain it cools off more at night and with using the fan, its reasonably nice for sleeping.
The picture is of a bunch of fighting cocks that this man had at his house in Baru. Each rooster is tied to a stake in the ground and kept on a very short leash. He must of had over 2 dozen birds at his place. These guys had long and powerful looking legs and not many feathers. Some of them had a large spur in the inside of one leg, but I think they tie a small sharp knife to their leg when they fight.
The weather forecasts now look good for leaving for Panama on Sunday Morning and heading to Isla Pinos in the eastern San Blas. It is about 145 miles, so it should be just 1 night at sea. If we have enough wind for sailing and don't encounter any negative current, it should take us about 24 hours. I think the plan will be to leave Sunday morning - around 7am, so that if we average less than 6 kts, it gives us an 11 hour cushion of daylight for arriving in Panama.
So it looks like the change of scenery will be a substantial one. It will be nice to get back to where going snorkeling, swimming and hunting will be our major pastime. I am looking forward to seeing these eastern islands as they are far less traveled, compared to the western islands. There are lots of places to explore in the San Blas and we can hardly wait...
