Waiting for Jeff
Tom
04/14/2009, N 'N:W 'E, Bermuda

Jeff Kuller from Camden will be joining me tonight to sail the last leg to Camden. We hope to leave Thursday morning if all goes well. I am having trouble with the most recent blogs showing up in the usual place. They seem to be hidden down on the right hand side of the blog page. Look for "signing off", "florida's finist",and "signs of life" which describe the last part of our passage from St. Thomas to Bermuda. Somehow, the dates got messed up.

Hello Tom and Lili,
Congrzatulations on your progress. We had not had internet for many weeks and have missed your notes. I remember Lili from 15-20 years ago when she would come to the hospital with Ralph. She now has her sea legs and there will be no stopping her.
Sydney and I are just now preparing Hannah Day for storage in Colon, Panama, and return to Maine tomorrow. We'll have many stories to share over some good rum.
Our wishes for some fine weather on your last leg from Bermuda.
David

A quick note of thanks (and an apology). First, I'm sorry for not being as helpful as anticipated on this voyage. I know Tom wasn't expecting to sail with a mostly sea sick, post-college lost soul for a week, but that's what he got! So thank you Tom- for the sailing lessons, the gentle prodding to get me over my sea sickness, the tastey food (when I could eat it), and all the "life advice." I think that everyone should take a lesson from Tom and make sure you follow your dreams- no matter what they are or when you're finally able. I wish him and the Flash of Beauty a smooth sail for their final leg of this adventure that I feel lucky to have been a small part of. Lily

Florida's Finest Key Lime Flavoured Coconut Patties
Lily and Tom
04/09/2009, 31 56'N:64 40'W, 40 miles from Bermuda

Well, we've just celebrated my third consecutive meal with a lovely Florida's Finest Key Lime Coconut Patty. Whooo! I'm alive and feeling much better. There is nothing worse than four consecutive days of sea sickness, other than five or more days- thank goodness I have yet to experience that. A normal day consisted of dry heaving, not eating more than a few crackers, puking those up and 12 straight hours spent in the cockpit staring at the horizon. Repeat that daily, Sunday to Wednesday. But I'm happy to report that I am normal again, I'm not a TOTAL wimp when it comes to sailing off shore. The sun is shining, we're 40 miles from Bermuda and we can add a new bird to our very brief list of wildlife we've spotted. Lily

It has been 800 miles on the starboard tack, and it looks like we should go through Town Cut into St. George's Harbor sometime tonight around 2100. Lily has come to life in the last 24 hours, and it has been great fun getting to know her. She has been my ninth crew on the voyage. She showed me strength and wisdom beyond anything I had anticipated when I asked her to come sailing. I am very proud of her. Tom
