Sailing...Sailing
Kevin
07/12/2007, Barnegat, NJ

Hello everyone, sorry I haven't kept up with the blog....so...

Just a short note to mention that yes I am sailing and quite a bit. Also took the ASA Keel boat course and passed. Got to sail a Pearson 26 for the weekend with a crew of four, loads of fun and informative.

The kids had fun hanging out in the cabin after the fireworks on the 4th. We watched the festive display from our marina then waited for the traffic to ease a bit before we headed home, the rain that followed chased us inside. Not much room in a CP19 for four people, can you say...'Bigger Boat'!

Next up an overnight at Tice's Shoal.

Fairwinds!

Yes! Gypsy Soul has been dipped once more into the briny sea. Didn't get to sail today, we just launched her then motored over to the slip. Spent some time figuring out the lines and getting gear stored in the right places.

Robin was the official photographer for the mast raising as Mom assisted me with the task at hand.

Thing's went fairly smooth, I didn't yell much at all.

Hope for an evening sail on Monday after work.
Looking forward to a great season of sailing.

PS. If you happen to look through our other pages I am sorry to say we are missing several pictures thanks to ClubPhoto going off line. I am working on finding them and getting them up on another server soon.

Fire!
Kevin/ Windy & Dry!
05/15/2007, Manahawkin, NJ

Well I have my boat ready just in time for a forest fire! Sheeesh...it's nasty looking outside.

Seems the fire was started at our local gunnery range by an F16 using flares in a training run.

Well the bottom is at long last done!
Moving on to other details now in hopes of getting her in the water next weekend.

Enjoy the pic's, of course they make it all look so easy.

Well after a lot of hard work the hull cleaning is complete, now to get some fresh paint on her.

I get to go visit the newly opened West Marine store close by. My slip is open tomorrow but I don't think Gypsy Soul will be ready for the water until mid to late May.

Spring!
Kevin, getting warmer!

Spring!

Took the cover off a couple weeks ago in time for a brief snow storm and then a sleet storm but I think winter is finally done, keep your fingers crossed.

I stepped the mast by myself which I had hoped I could do and I had no problems. Still have to install the new halyards and tape up the new boots on the shrouds.

Starting painting the rudder head, varnishing the motor mount and the tiller extension I made from a piece of oak dowel. Also I continue to scrap the bottom, probably about halfway done, and then the sanding begins.
