Com-Pac Convergence 2007

Wow what a trip!

A gathering of Com-Pac Yacht owners...okay so just two and a Skipper 20 owner.

Was up early to pack and made it to the marina by ten I guess it was. Received a call from Bob stating the fact that there was no wind and he had motored up from Surf City to about Gulf Point and was headed for a pit stop in Waretown to wait for wind.

s

About elevenish my brother and I departed as the wind filled and we met up with Bob and off we were to Tice's Shoal. Excellent sail out, about an hour and a half. John lagged behind a bit so we waited for him to catch up and pick an anchorage. And yes there was one young lady without a top but she had things covered up and we were at a safe distance, but non-the-less it caught our attention.

d

We quickly anchored our vessels and once I thought I had Gypsy Soul secured Bob brought Koinonia along side for a raft up. Not ten minutes later we noticed our boats drifting towards a large cabin cruiser. Swiftly Bob casted off as we had to re-anchor this time deciding to keep our boats separate. It seems my Bruce anchor didn't like the weedy bottom and in time I relocated into shallower waters and set the anchor by hand in a sandy patch.

Extra:
August of 2005 my brother and I traveled south to Annapolis to pick up a Com-Pac 16 I purchased on eBay and named her Floridaze. After making repairs over the next ten months or so she was ready to launch in July of 2006. My daughter and I loved it and after several outings and an overnighter [...]
