Spring's a comin'
Kevin/Winterish
02/29/2008, NJ

Hello all,
It has been awhile, but it seems winter is behind us and that means back to working on the bottom of Pan.

Not much snow this year, maybe a couple of inches.
As far as cold, it wasn't so bad as well. Now I need to get looking into a slip for the coming season.

I look forward to keeping everyone updated as to our progress on getting this 'Good Old Boat' ship shape and ready for launch.

Fairwinds,
Kevin

A change in the wind
Kevin

Well another summer of sailing is in the history books and so is another boat. Gypsy is sold and we have a new vessel in the stable, a 1985 Seaward 22.

Keep a look out for upcoming pictures as I begin cleaning up yet another 'Good Old Boat'.

Com-Pac Convergence 2007

Wow what a trip!

A gathering of Com-Pac Yacht owners...okay so just two and a Skipper 20 owner.

Was up early to pack and made it to the marina by ten I guess it was. Received a call from Bob stating the fact that there was no wind and he had motored up from Surf City to about Gulf Point and was headed for a pit stop in Waretown to wait for wind.

s

About elevenish my brother and I departed as the wind filled and we met up with Bob and off we were to Tice's Shoal. Excellent sail out, about an hour and a half. John lagged behind a bit so we waited for him to catch up and pick an anchorage. And yes there was one young lady without a top but she had things covered up and we were at a safe distance, but non-the-less it caught our attention.

d

We quickly anchored our vessels and once I thought I had Gypsy Soul secured Bob brought Koinonia along side for a raft up. Not ten minutes later we noticed our boats drifting towards a large cabin cruiser. Swiftly Bob casted off as we had to re-anchor this time deciding to keep our boats separate. It seems my Bruce anchor didn't like the weedy bottom and in time I relocated into shallower waters and set the anchor by hand in a sandy patch.

Sailing...Sailing
Kevin
07/12/2007, Barnegat, NJ

Hello everyone, sorry I haven't kept up with the blog....so...

Just a short note to mention that yes I am sailing and quite a bit. Also took the ASA Keel boat course and passed. Got to sail a Pearson 26 for the weekend with a crew of four, loads of fun and informative.

The kids had fun hanging out in the cabin after the fireworks on the 4th. We watched the festive display from our marina then waited for the traffic to ease a bit before we headed home, the rain that followed chased us inside. Not much room in a CP19 for four people, can you say...'Bigger Boat'!

Next up an overnight at Tice's Shoal.

Fairwinds!

Yes! Gypsy Soul has been dipped once more into the briny sea. Didn't get to sail today, we just launched her then motored over to the slip. Spent some time figuring out the lines and getting gear stored in the right places.

Robin was the official photographer for the mast raising as Mom assisted me with the task at hand.

Thing's went fairly smooth, I didn't yell much at all.

Hope for an evening sail on Monday after work.
Looking forward to a great season of sailing.

PS. If you happen to look through our other pages I am sorry to say we are missing several pictures thanks to ClubPhoto going off line. I am working on finding them and getting them up on another server soon.

Fire!
Kevin/ Windy & Dry!

Well I have my boat ready just in time for a forest fire! Sheeesh...it's nasty looking outside.

Seems the fire was started at our local gunnery range by an F16 using flares in a training run.
