We played tourist in NYC all day on Tuesday. We took the morning train to the city. We wandered for a bit, then decided to get on one of the many tour busses. We saw just about everythig we wanted to see and got back to GCS by 3:30 to catch the train back to Peekskill. Grand Central Station was my favorite attraction. So many trains funneling into a single place. Plus the fact that it's been in so many movies over the years.... We're going to stay put in Peekskill until after the weekend. Ney York Harbor is busy enough during the week, they tell us the weekends are even worse... They are having an Itialina Festival here this weekend, so we'll be Itailian for the weekend.....TTFN

We only made 10mi today. Wanted to get laundry done and a few other items but it turned out for the better. There's a train station close by, so we decided that tomorrow, we'll leave the boat here and take the train to New York City. We're looking forward to the trip. Not much else to report. Here's a picture of West Point that many will be more familiar with that I took this AM as we sailed by.....TTFN

We're anchored right in front of West Point. It's a beautiful view nestled in the Catskill Mountains. I finally had the time to work with the Facebook people and got Facebook to work again. We had a great time in Poughkeepsie and sat ther for 4 days. We met lots of friendly people, had run of their clubhouse, and got loads of information about the ICW, The Chesepeke, and further south. Most of the sailboats there leave in Sept. for the Islands, so many of them had made the trip many times. It's nice and cool today, instead of the 95+ temps we have been dealing with. tomorrow we have a short day planned, just going to Peekskill, NY. Looks like a nice anchorage there and we need to get some laundry done. Can't think of anything elese to write so....TTFN

We made it to the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club today. We're so far ahead of schedule that we decided to spend a 4 or 5 days here. Its a nice place with friendly people. We're on a mooring here, but it's only $20/night with access to showers and of course a bar....lol. Water and laundry are also available. We got a late start this morning so about 10 miles out, the tide changed so we were motoring against a 4 kt current. When you are only going a little over 6kts, it slows you waaaaaaaay down. But, learning has occured....I'll pay more attention to the tide tables in the future. The yacht club is having a party Friday night and we were invited so that should be fun. Also one of the members has made the same trip we are planning many times, so tomorrow he said he would share any information he had. I'll be sure to grap a pen and paper......TTFN.

Isn't there a line from "The French Connection" about "still picking your feet in Poughkeepsie?"? Well, are you? Do you have a copy of Eldridge Tide and Pilot? It's printed on paper and everything... no batteries required. I've been vicariously enjoying your adventure - clearly you've been enjoying the ride. Here's to more fun to come!
