Haulout Day 3

Today started with me sanding the epoxy repaired areas while Pam continued hunting for defective areas in the bottom paint. When that was completed we cleaned the areas that were to be primed with a solvent to remove sanding residue and anything else that might cause the primer not to adhere. Given that there were so many areas to be primed, Pam and I both got brushes and applied the primer. The primer dried quite fast so we were able to get the required two coats on today in hopes that we might be able to apply the first coat of bottom paint tomorrow. Pam also tried cleaning the above the water line hull with vinegar while I sanded and taped the waterline in preparation for it being repainted. We're feeling it today physically as we spent most of the day, once again in coveralls. My arms got a workout holding the sander over my head most of the afternoon as I sanded the waterline. Pam got her arm workout mainly from rubbing the salt residue off the side of the hull. But the hull is looking better so at least she got some satisfaction from that. This salt does not come off easy as we think it has been on there since our passage in February. Oh well, time to rest now to re-charge our batteries for tomorrow's labor.
