Underway Day 1
07 December 2011 | Northwest of Grenada
Jeff
We got underway this morning at 0847 bound for the US Virgin Islands. Whether we make it there or not will largely depend on the possible development of a weather system north of the Caribbean. If it develops too soon and brings north winds to the Virgin Islands we will divert to one of the other islands to our east. So our strategy today is to travel basically NNE so that we will be closer to the island chain to our east and to set ourselves up for the northeasterly wind shift that is forecast for later this week. All is well currently, Pam is on watch right now after doing yeoman work preparing lunch. God I love her. After not sailing since August we had some difficulty getting our sea legs but we're working on it, especially remembering to form a tripod. Stay tuned to see ho things go from here and where we end up. I hope to send an update each day if we have the electrical power to do it.
