Back to Caneel

29 February 2012 | Caneel Bay, St. John, USVI
Jeff
On Feb. 26th we sailed in lumpy seas and winds in excess of 20 knots, at least it was downwind, back to one of our favorite haunts Caneel Bay. We're working our way west again to meet a friend during her cruise ship's visit to Charlotte Amalie on March seventh. While in Caneel Bay we visited with Barbara a friend from eleven years ago when we were last in this area of the world. Barbara and her husband Randy run a jewlery store called Freebird located in Cruz Bay, St. John. Eleven years ago Pam was going to work there for the season when we decided to return to the States instead. We also had cocktails one evening aboard Tranquility and met Lee's brother and sister inlaw. We had a great time that evening swapping stories of our youth.

But Caneel was not all play as I tried to install the serial to LAN adapter, that the package that we picked up in Coral Bay, and I was unable to get it to work. So I put out the word to friends back in the States for help so we shall see if we can get it to work. We would like it to work for our upcoming trip to Antigua because it allows us to display AIS targets on our iPad. Remember AIS targets are other shipping in our area. With out it we can still display them on the PC but it just takes longer for the PC to boot up. Oh well, maybe we will have better luck in Charlotte Amalie.
