Jeff
In the last fifteen months of this cruising lifestyle I have lost weight and inches. Which is great but today I discovered another bonus. In previous blog posts I have spoken of how to deal with a moving boat at sea. Simple things like going to the head become complicated by the very motion of the boat. The bonus of weight loss became apparent to me when I was going to the head and only had to unbuckle my belt to lower my short, never below the knees remember. I didn't have to deal with that pesky button and zipper, just unbuckle and they fall off. Some times the simplest things can make you happy out here. At any rate, yesterday our 24 hour run was 151 nautical miles. Not bad considering Pam made me tuck a reef in the main before nightfall in fear of squalls. I was up most of the night on watch trying to let Pam get some rest but she couldn't get much sleep. We both have managed to get much needed sleep today. The first day of a passage always sucks, getting into the routine and dealing with the motion. We are now headed in a generally northwesterly direction and even though we can't go directly to where we want to now there is hope in the forecast that the wind will shift over the weekend to allow us to do so. Right now we are steering the course that moves us the fastest in as close to the right direction as possible. Wind is currently ESE to SE between 12 and 15 knots. Our hope is that it goes more the the east or NE which would allow us to turn a little more left. Hoping the forecast holds, that's about it from here.
