Making Progress at a Cost

Yesterday's 24 hour run was 138 nautical miles and fortunately there were no squalls over night. But the wind let up in the early morning hours today with left over seas. The boat was being thrown around violently with no apparent way to stop it. Pam and I were both very tired and made mistakes moving around in the motion. I ended up with a bruised hip and cut elbow and Pam hit here nose on a bulkhead. She has a scratch on the side of her nose but it does not appear to be broken. We had a very difficult time handling sails and ended up motoring for a bit in the sloppy conditions until the wind returned later in the morning. We are still sailing as I write this. Our course is still basically NW. As for our health, Pam's fever of yesterday has gone and we both are still coughing with some sinus congestion and post nasel drip. But we are gradually improving, just hoping that the wind holds. We have contradicting forecasts from Herb and Chris. Chris has the wind going away by Wednesday and Herb has it getting lighter but not going away completely. In any case they both say we will have wind tomorrow so we hope that holds.
