Welcome to the log of the S/V Southern Cross ------------------ LaRue & Susan Boyd 2010 Cruising Grounds: Virgin Islands, West Indies, Caribbean
St John then BVI
03/03/2010

Much to our delight, Dodd & Becca, Vesper Light, came into Christmas Cove for a couple of nights of laughs and great food. Becca makes a mean coleslaw, pizza from scratch, and a yummy guacamole.

Mar 4 we will head back over to St John, Maho Bay, then Leinster and Waterlemon Cay over the weekend. Early next week (probably Mar 9 or 10) we will go to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) for a month or more. Our daughter Kate and roomate and pal Alica will join us on Mar 11-22. Cannot wait!

Note: Since we will travel out of AT&T coverage area Mar 5, communications may be hit and miss (mostly miss), so our updates will be much less frequent.

02/26/2010

Susan found a swimming buddy she named Goldie. Goldie was a small tropical fish (see in the water near Susan) that adopted Susan and swam within inches of her for 45 minutes.

Turtles to your left fins to your right
02/25/2010

Tommy Turtle is swimming around Southern Cross with Susan taking a closer look with snorkel gear. We see turtles constantly. We also have a small shark that hung under the boat for most of the day. Jimmy Buffett can modify his song now....'turtles to the left of me, fins to rhe right'.

Tai Chi at Hawksnest Bay
02/25/2010

The crew of the SV SongTao having their morning Tai Chi on the foredeck at Hawksnest Bay, St John, USVI. Following a very rolly and sleep deprived night, we decided to move on to St James Island, St Thomas, USVI,
