Admiralty Bay, Port Elizabeth, Bequia
Eventually we had to leave Tobago Cays, but before we did, we had to wait for, and meet up with Russell, Greer, Cai, and Jaiya aboard Tika. Check out their Blog, “Tika Travels” if you get a chance. We met Russell 22 years ago in Bali when he was travelling with his parents and friend Tim. They were helping Russell’s parents on their circumnavigation aboard their Peterson 44. Russ and Tim became known as, “the boys” as they were 23 years old, windsurfers extraordinaire, and were the caretakers of our boats whenever the old folks chose to take off on a land trip. Funny, the old folks then seem like the young ones now. The next time we saw Russell was in Seattle with his then pregnant wife Greer about 12 years ago. Russell said we inspired him to take his two young children on their sailing adventure. They are on a 55 foot catamaran, a real machine. 21 knots is not unusual. They also have all of the toys so once they get into the Pacific, theirs will be the boat all of the other kids will want to be on. We celebrated Greer’s and Ned’s birthdays aboard. We also ran into some young friend’s of Spencer’s who were chartering in the Carib. It is such a small world. Gorhun remembered the name of F4rannie B and came over and asked if we knew Spencer. Wow. What a surprise. Shared a nice meal with these young sailors. They sure seemed to be having a good time. With the wind still blowing in the morning, we had a lovely sail into Bequia where we listened to some more Pan music at a local restaurant and bought some great tropical fruit at the market, the best mangoes I have ever had.
