Sails feeling the strain...

10 February 2012 | 200 miles from Singapore
Stuart
The weather continues to be squally and the wind is 10 to 15 knots from right behind, resulting in average speeds in the 5 to 6 knot range. So there are 200 miles to go before arrival in Singapore - Ivan is saying worst case 36 hours (ie midnight Sat/Sun) or, possibly, a bit earlier. I suspect it will be closer to the middle of the night by the time they clear immigration and tie up at Keppel Bay Marina.

We need a bit of sail repair - the genoa UV protector has unstitched a bit and there is a tear in the asymmetric caused during a squall last night. The snuffer jammed and Ivan had to peel and take the sail down by hand. It must have snagged on something and has 2 tears. Hopefully Keppel Marina can tells us where we can find some sail repair tape/spinnaker patches. It looks like Rolly Tasker in Phuket will be seeing some business coming their way...

It's typical that the spares I have on board have not been needed - just those I don't have!

Extra: "Fujin" is the Japanese God of Wind. The name is composed of two Chinese characters - "Fu" meaning wind and "Jin" meaning god. If you swap the order of the characters, you don't pronouce it "jinfu" - instead it is pronouced "kamikaze" or divine wind....
